containR successful in Vancouver!
Over 10,000 Visitors
containR experienced a successful run in Vancouver at the SHAW Tower Courtyard, across from the Olympic Cauldron during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. Over 48 independent films celebrating physicality in art and sport by Canadian and international artists were exhibited. The final weekend of containR wrapped up with live performances by NO HITTING and Katherine Ricketts.
Thank you to the wonderful SHAW volunteer docents and staff; to our sponsors, partners, filmmakers and artists who made containR such a success! Footage of containR events coming soon! More information
Co-curated by Evann Siebens & Nicole Mion
containR featured single channel films celebrating physicality in art, dance, performance and sport. containR asks the question: where is the line between art and sport? What are the differences between how the body is used by athletes or artists? How is this explored cinematically? containR programed a wide variety of work, both historical and contemporary, Canadian and International. designed by Vancouver architect Robert Duke, industrial designer Keith Doyle, and designer Iain Sinclair.
A wonderful thank you is due to our funders, sponsors and partners, without them, containR could not have happened: Arts Partners in Creative Development, SHAW, Bravo!Fact/CTV, Cineworks, Host a City Happening Program, EMMEDIA, British Columbia Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and Calgary Arts Development.
