Montréal Danse is devoted to the creation of vibrant works with an international roster of choreographers. The company creates programs that play with concepts, visions, structures and vocabularies in its pursuit to capture the imagination of our times.
Continually developing its reputation for taking risks, the company has become a veritable center for research and creation of contemporary dance. Our Artistic Director, Kathy Casey, revels in seeking out rising and established choreographers that stand apart from the crowd and asking them and the company’s dancers to delve into the unknown. This approach to creation is Montréal Danse’s way of discovering what is fresh, audacious and exciting in our art form.
Montréal Danse has created and produced nearly 40 works with almost as many choreographers since its inception in 1986. The company has collaborated with numerous Canadian artists as well as choreographers from France, Belgium, the United States, Germany, Japan and Korea.
Known for its captivating repertory and for its exceptional dancers, Montréal Danse has brought its broad conception of contemporary dance to cities in Canada, South America, the United States, Europe, Asia and Central America.
