Rigor, kindness, an open mind, respect, generosity, responsibility, courage, empathy, compassion, play, instant forgiveness, honesty, exploration, vulnerability, and attempting the impossible are some of the components that fuel my creative process. I yearn to find the beauty in the grotesque and the magic in the mundane. Giving everything I have, and trusting that others will do the same – propelling us forward into uncharted territory. Listening intently – to the room, to the others, to the world at large, because I can’t interpret what I don’t hear. I trust in the chaos that manifests itself when exploring the unknown.
A leap of faith, a dash of imagination, buckets of sweat and sometimes a few tears – I’m unsure if there is a method to the madness, or if the madness fuels the method but these are the things that drive me forward and help me to create.. I love the visual aspects and rhythm of directing, the excitement and thrill of acting, and the crafting of language and story of writing. My major inspirations are politics, and social issues – specifically those involving women.
