First Calgary Savings Spark Artists
Pamela Tzeng & Sean MacAlister
Native to Alberta, Pamela Tzeng graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a Minor in Dance. Although classically trained, Pamela’s passion for movement lies in contemporary dance in which she received training primarily through the University of Calgary Program of Dance and an apprenticeship with company W&M Physical Theatre 08/09. An emerging independent artist in the Calgary dance community, Tzeng has performed with La Caravan Dance Theatre, En Corps Dance Collective, the University of Calgary’s Mainstage, Fuze Entertainment Solutions Inc., and SURGE Company.
Pamela has also presented her own choreographic work at the 28th Annual Alberta Dance Explosions Festival, En Corp Dance Collective’s Move and the 2010 IGNITE! Festival.Recently, with the support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Canada Council for the Arts, Tzeng attended the 2010 ImPuls Tanz International Dance Festival in Vienna, Austria to further her studies in contemporary dance. In January Pamela will be returning to Europe to participate in Arsenale della Danza: Body in Progress Master Class Program, a four-month professional mentorship program set in Venice, Italy. Born and raised in Calgary, Sean MacAlister is the co – founder of The Straw artist collective/ publishing house. His practice is rooted somewhere between conceptual projects and tactile assemblage. His work has appeared in various spaces, contexts, and publications across Canada. He is currently in pursuit of warm and fuzzy feelings.
