First Calgary Savings Spark

Spark is presented by First Calgary Savings, which proudly supports local artists appearing in the Fluid Festival.
Spark is an interdisciplinary project designed to encourage collaborative creativity from practitioners in the visual and movement arts in Calgary. The goal of the project is to bring together emerging artists so they can “spark” each other’s ideas into challenging and critical works.
Spark provides a platform for these artists to engage in the artistic community and have an audience for their works. It also encourages connections within the Calgary arts community and between the movement and visual arts disciplines.
Five pairs of artists and dancers were given two weeks to create new, collaborative works. The project has culminated in performances allowing the visual and movement arts to cross-pollinate in an experimental venue.
Spark is curated by Megan Gole and Kathryn Blair in collaboration with Nicole Mion, who also acted as a mentor to these young artists.
